Chavutti Thirumal Massage

The technique originates in Kerala and was developed for maintaining suppleness in the body, and for treating pain and swelling caused by combat. It is however, equally suitable as a treatment for those not involved in regular or strenuous physical exercise and wishing to maintain their own fitness and well being.

Chavutti is based on the precise knowledge of the body”s energetic channels “nadis” or the meridian lines. Using the feet gives the feeling that tension is being gently ironed out. Receiving this bodywork is not only relaxing for the soft tissue in the body, it also can be rejuvenating and energising.

These days, I train other bodyworkers in the subtle art of Chavutti. You can find out about training with me, or find a Chavutti therapist.

My Journey as a Bodyworker

I began training in Swedish massage with Claire Maxwell-Hudson and graduated in 1995. I hosted my own practice in Natural Bodies with Gary Carter in Brighton for many years. In the late 90’s I began my life transforming journey in India, where I became acquainted with Chavutti Thirumal and trained with Veejay and Padma Nair in Kerala. This was the beginning of my love for Chavutti as I was immediately hooked by this unique style, and developed my own training school to help other practitioners learn this incredible art.
